Our Workshop with Lenore Crawford

On Monday, March 30 twenty-five quilters had the pleasure of taking a workshop class from Lenore Crawford where we learned how to make our own fused fabric wall hanging from a photo of our choice.  Here is Lenore next to one of her pieces - a street scene in France.

Here is Lenore doing a demonstration of adding paint to enhance our fabric pieces by adding depth and blending of different values.

Lenore showed us how to use "fussy cut" pictures to add to a scene made in fabric.

Here is the photo of a dogwood blossom made in fabric using a different color family.

We got a good start on our own flower designs from our own photos, as you can see from these photos of class participants.

Lenore Crawford Visit Us on Monday, March 30, 2015

Our next Pieces and Patches Quilt Guild meeting is almost here!

Monday, March 30th we will have the honor of a visit from award winning quilt master Lenore Crawford with her program "Creating Your Own Art Quilt:  Fused Fabric, Painting and Stitching".  Lenore is famous for using fabric to capture the beauty of a photo, whether a flower from her mother's perennial garden or a street scene in France, for example.  We are sure to be inspired and amazed by her outstanding work.  Hope to see you!

Photos From Carol Loessel's Visit to Pieces and Patches

Carol Loessel's Presentation - February 23, 2015

For our February Quilt Guild meeting, we learned lots of ways to use up scraps from our projects with Carol Loessel's presentation called "Recipes for Leftovers".

:Carol is a master at coming up with creative ways to make new projects without purchasing all new fabric.  She also gave us great ideas for getting our fabric in workable order to make finding what we need from what we have!  Her trunk show was a huge collection of quilts from over her years as a quilter.

Those who were able to attend Carol's workshop found her to be a great teacher.  The workshop got the class started on a quilt called Striking.  Here's an example of a "Striking" quilt.

Carol has written a book entitled Start With Scraps and published many patterns.  Carol is from Macomb, Michigan, so if you are in the area, you should check into having Carol visit your guild!
